Obscure Bergmann No.1 becomes the trusted blaster of Din”Mando” Djarin.

When it comes to Star Wars, it’s a common fact that Han Solo’s blaster draws inspiration from the Mauser C96, and most Stormtrooper weapons are modeled after World War I and II machine guns like the MG34 and Lewis gun.

Today, though, we’re diving into the Mandalorian Blaster from the newer Mandalorian series, which is based on the Bergmann No.1. This historic semi-automatic pistol is notable for being one of the first direct blowback pistols, making it a significant piece of firearms history.

Historical Background of the Bergmann No.1

The Bergmann No.1, also known as the Model 1894, was developed by Theodor Bergmann and designer Louis Schmeisser. It marked a significant advancement in firearm technology with its simple blowback operation, a departure from the delayed blowback system of earlier models.

Key features included:

  • Recoil spring located beneath the barrel.
  • Absence of an extractor, relying on gas pressure for case ejection.
  • Fixed 5-round magazine loaded via a side-mounted clip.
  • Chambered in calibers such as 5mm, 6.5mm, and 8mm.

Despite its innovative design, the Bergmann No.1 saw limited production and was eventually succeeded by improved models.
